UNIJOS VC APPLAUDS STAKEHOLDERS INVOLVED IN INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE INSTITUTION
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako has commended all those involved in fully addressing the challenge of lack of infrastructure in the University.
The Vice-Chancellor was speaking while leading an inspection team on a tour of ongoing infrastructural projects in the University to ascertain their various stages of completion and to find out possible challenges being encountered by the Contractors with a view to ensuring remedial action is taken towards speedy completion of the projects.
Professor Maimako who was optimistic that all the projects inspected will soon be commissioned, however expressed regret that the new Senate building which was awarded in 2009 was still under construction and urged the contractor to speed up work.
The projects inspected were the new Senate Building, CBN Centre of Excellence, the new Management Science Complex, new Social Science Complex, the Twin Lecture Theatre, Aliyu Akwe Doma Indoor Theatre and Auditorium near the Faculty of Arts, Naraguta Campus Library Complex, new Directorate of Physical Facilities Building and Faculty of Engineering Complex all at the Naraguta Campus.
Also Inspected were the University Senior Staff Club at the Bauchi Road Senior Staff Quarters and the Vice-Chancellor’s Official Residence at Rayfield.
At the various project sites, the Contractors briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the progress of work and their challenges and assured that they would complete work within the agreed timeframe.
Others who accompanied the Vice-Chancellor on the inspection tour were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Tanko Ishaya, the Registrar, Mr Monday Danjem, the University Librarian, Dr. Stephen Akintunde represented by the Deputy Librarian, Dr Gupiyem Gupiyem, Director of Physical Facilities, Architect (Mrs) Halima Auta, some Staff of the Vice-Chancellor’s office and the Directorate of Physical facilities.
