The Plateau State Chapter of the University of Jos Alumni Association (UJAA) has conferred the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako with the Award of Excellence in the Management of People and Resources. This was at a Dinner and Award Night organized by the Association at the Eliel Centre, Gold and Base, Jos.
Chairperson at the occasion, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Dorathy Gimba, congratulated the Awardees and the Alumni Association for a successful event. Gimba noted that the event was an opportunity for participants to be relaxed, wine and dine after a hectic Conference.
Mrs. Gimba acknowledged the giant strides made by Jossites within and outside the Country saying there is no lazy Jossite except for those who have chosen not to be productive. She charged members of the Association to put more efforts in building up each other in support of their Alma-mater.
AIG Gimba urged the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Maimako and other Awardees to see their conferment as a call to more service to humanity and to write their names in gold.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako, represented by the Director, Alumni Relations, Mr. Samuel Caleb Mwansat, thanked UJAA for the recognition and assured that he would do more there by creating a good working relationship with the Association.
Chairman, University of Jos Alumni Association, Plateau State Chapter, Barrister Paul Daniel Gyang said the Association was honoured to host Jossites and friends to a dinner. According to Barrister Gyang, it is the Association’s way of welcoming Jossites back home and honoring those who have distinguished themselves in their different fields of endeavour.
Barrister Gyang appreciated the Plateau Chapter UJAA Members for their commitment and thanked the State Government and the University Authorities for giving them a conducive environment to operate, describing Plateau as the home State of the Institution.
Also speaking, National President, University of Jos Alumni Association, Alhaji Idris Yakubu, said being re-elected to serve again as President of the Association is a privilege and assured that he and his team are ready to deliver on their campaign promise, which is to consolidate on the successes achieved in the last two years.
Mr. Yakubu assured that as an EXCO, they would reach out to all Jossites worldwide to bring forth positive development to the University.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of various Awards to several distinguished Alumni of the University.
