Unijos Veterinary Teaching Hospital To Take-off Soon

UNIJOS VETERINARY TEACHING HOSPITAL SOON TO TAKE-OFF

The University of Jos Veterinary Teaching Hospital is soon to commence operations.  The hospital would operate under the University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Dean of the Faculty, Professor Lami Lombin disclosed this while presenting some items and equipment donated by Visiting Lecturers from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, University of Ibadan and the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI), Vom currently teaching in various Departments of the Faculty.

The items donated to assist the take-off of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital included four (4) Examination Tables, five (5) Drip Stands, one (1) Instrument Table and a Water Bath.

According to Professor Lombin, the University of Jos has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Plateau State Government for the University to take over the Veterinary Hospital located around the Polo Roundabout to serve as the location for the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She said preparatory to the official handover of the site, the Faculty has been engaging well wishers and other philanthropists to assist in successfully establishing the Hospital with the gesture of the Visiting Lecturers a response to their advocacy.

Professor Lombin, while thanking the Visiting lecturers for their support said the donations would not only serve the Teaching Hospital, but would enable the Faculty meet up with the accreditation requirements of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Veterinary regulatory body.

Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Nelson Ochekpe, commended the donors for their initiative and prayed God to reward a them for their support. He commended the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for the successes recorded so far and charged them to properly document all assistance they receive towards the development of the Faculty.

The Vice-Chancellor encouraged the Faculty to utilize the donations maximally in the best interest of the University.
