MISSION FOR AFRICA INTERNATIONAL COMMISERATES WITH PLATEAU PEOPLE.
University of Jos has received a delegation of Chaplaincy Officers from Mission for Africa International. The team visited the University to commiserate with the University and the entire people of Plateau State over the recent attacks on communities in the State, which has claimed many lives and properties.
President, Mission for Africa International, Apostle Edward Taylor, said that the delegation had come to visit areas in the State which were affected by the recent attacks, and to also sympathize with the people. He described the situation as tragic and urged the people of the State to remain steadfast while looking up to God, who is merciful, in such times of tribulations.
According to the Apostle Taylor, Mission for Africa International is a Christian Military mission comprising both Executive and Regular Chaplain Officers and also an Organization for Clerics who have passion for the work of Christ.
Apostle Taylor informed Management of the University that the Mission for Africa International shares in the people’s grief and prays God to comfort and heal the people as only He (God) can comfort them.
The Cleric said that life is too precious for any human being to destroy, because only God gives life and money cannot buy it. He therefore, implored the people of Plateau State to shun vengeance and embrace peace while praying against evil people, saying vengeance is the Lord’s.
Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Nelson Ochekpe, expressed appreciation to the guests for the visit and commended the team particularly for its interest in the University. He thanked the team for the show of solidarity and stressed the need for Christians to learn to show solidarity with one another in times of need.
Professor Maimako expressed delight with the interest and concern shown by Christians worldwide about the happenings in Nigeria, particularly in Plateau State. He assured them that the University of Jos would continue to do everything in its capacity to promote peace and further the Gospel.
