NARAGUTA BURNT BRICKS AND CLAY PRODUCTS LIMITED FORMALLY HANDED-OVER TO UNIJOS
The Bureau for Public Enterprises says it has privatised over 200 Government owned Enterprises in the country. Director, Mines and Steel Development in the Bureau for Public Enterprises, Mr. Yusuf Adamu disclosed this during an interactive session held at the Senate Chambers of the University of Jos, following the acquisition of the Naraguta Burnt and Clay Products by the University of Jos.
Mr Yusuf Adamu expressed appreciation for the opportunity to interact with stakeholders of the Naraguta Burnt Bricks and Clay Products Limited and noted that BPE has the mandate to privatise Government owned enterprises in Nigeria. He said that there is need for host communities to be at peace with the new owners of the privatised enterprise.
He further stated that it is in the interest of all parties to interact and always dialogue stressing that the duty of the BPE is to ensure that the interests of all stakeholders are taken care of for a peaceful co-existence.
Mr. Adamu disclosed that they were at the University to formally handover the Naraguta Burnt Bricks and Clay Products Limited to the University of Jos after its successful acquisition.
Contributing, Village head of Naraguta Community, Engr. Ahmed Bello said his Community was delighted for the opportunity to parley with the BPE and the University administration and congratulated the University authorities for the successful acquisition of the company.
He appealed to the University Management to carry them along by employing members of the community, giving them admission and absorbing them into the Naraguta Burnt Bricks and Clay Products Limited whenever it becomes fully operational.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako who was represented at the meeting by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Teresa Nmadu, assured of the University’s commitment to ensure that all stakeholders in the Naraguta Burnt Bricks and Clay Products Limited would have cause to smile once the company commences operation especially in the employment of qualified members of the host community.
