UNIJOS TO STRENGTHEN TIES WITH THE NIPSS
Management of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, has visited the University of Jos to strengthen collaboration and mutual ties with the University.
Leading the delegation, Director-General of the Institute, Professor Habu Galadima said NIPSS as the Country’s apex Think Tank of policy research and formulation, needed to develop strong partnerships with leading academic institutions to enable the Institute successfully discharge its mandate.
Professor Galadima who is an Alumnus and Staff of the University of Jos said he was on a familiarization tour of institutions and organizations in the Country aimed towards enhancing mutual relationships and strengthening academic excellence especially in the area of contemporary research activities.
The Director-General who commended the remarkable transformation taking place in the University of Jos under the tenure of the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako, praised the Vice-Chancellor’s courage in moving the University’s administrative activities to the Naraguta Campus Permanent Site.
Responding, University of Jos Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako congratulated the NIPSS Director-General over his recent appointment and appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for finding him worthy of the position.
Maimako described the Professor Galadima’s visit to the University as home-coming and said his appointment did not come as a surprise because of his track record and antecedents as a first class Scholar and Academic of high repute.
Professor Maimako who noted that the D-G came at a time Government-owned Institutions in the Country are facing a myriad of challenges, encouraged him to brace up in order to deliver on his vision and mission while leaving indelible marks on the sands of time.
Professor Maimako assured the NIPSS Management of the University’s unwavering support towards adding value to the services both Institutions render to the public in addition to enhancing their visibility by sustaining the culture of excellence and good governance.
Highpoint of the event was the exchanging of souvenirs by the two Chief Executives to commemorate the visit.
