VACANCY

In line with the University of Jos Act, Cap U8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria as amended by the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act, 2012 and the Conditions and Scheme of Service for Senior Staff, Council has approved that the position of Bursar be advertised.  The position of Bursar of the University of Jos, Jos will become vacant on February 14, 2020.

Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Bursar of the University of Jos.

  1. QUALIFICATIONS

 

Applicants must posses the following:

  1. A good first degree in either Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting
  2.       Membership of any of the following professional Accountancy bodies:
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria
  • Association of National Accountants of Nigeria
  • Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA)

 

  1. EXPERIENCE

Candidates should have at least fifteen (15) years cognate post-qualification working experience in a University or similar Institution. The candidate also must be a serving officer not below the rank of Deputy Bursar.

  1. DUTIES

The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.

Applications must not be above the age of Sixty (60) years at the time of appointment.

 

  1. CONDITION OF SERVICE

In addition to the general conditions of Service obtainable in the Nigerian University System, the Bursar shall be entitled to soft furnished accommodation, Chauffeur-driven car and 24 hour security services.  The appointment is for a period of five (5) years and, on satisfactory performance, the person may have his/her tenure extended for a further period of one (1) year and no more.

Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of University Librarian in the University of Jos.

QUALIFICATIONS

A good honours degree plus a higher degree in Library Science or a postgraduate diploma or Diploma in Library Science or Information Technology; at least 15 years of relevant post-qualification experience in Librarianship, including some years in an upper management position. The candidate must be a serving officer not below the rank of Deputy Librarian.

THE JOB

The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration and co-ordination of all Library Services in the University.

The person to be appointed must possess good human relations and exhibit considerable ability and competence in Librarianship.  He/She must also have extensive and indepth knowledge of the University system.  The Library being the Centre of academic activities of the University requires a Librarian with a proven record of research, publications and administration.
