Blue House Dethrones Defending Champion Yellow House

Blue House of the University of Jos Women Association Nursery and Primary School has dethroned defending champions Yellow House to be crowned new champions of the School’s Inter-house competition garnering a total of Two Hundred and Nine points (209) in the process. Defending Champions Yellow House could only come Second this time around with One Hundred and Eighty Seven points, Green House placed Third with One Hundred and Eighty Three points and Red House was Fourth with One Hundred and Eighty Two points.

Welcoming guests to the occasion, the President of the University of Jos Women Association and Wife of the Vice-Chancellor, Mrs Lucy Maimako appreciated Staff of the School for their unrelenting efforts at molding the character of the pupils and observed that Physical Education gives the pupils a sound mind and developes their character. 

She thanked the parents for their support to the School and urged them to nurture their wards through Physical Education while noting that talents abound in the School which should be encouraged for the Children’s holistic development.

Chairman of the occasion, Barrister Salihu Sani said that he was excited to be in the midst of future athletes who will represent Plateau State and Nigeria in International Sports competitions and pointed out that all talents discovered would be given attention and encouragement to become future champions.

Special Guest of Honour at the occasion and Director of Plateau State Sports Council, Mr. S. D. Moven who was represented by Mr. D. Abdul, a Deputy Director in the Sports Council said from his professional assessment, some of the Student athletes that participated in the competition will go on to achieve great things in future.

He encouraged grassroots coaches and those from the Sports Council to always attend such school competitions to enable them identify talents and nurture them to greater heights.

Mr. Moven was optimistic that the talents discovered will participate in the 2019 National Youth Games to make them benefit from global exposure and promised to ensure that the next Inter-House competition of the school would take place at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, Jos.

Headmaster of the School, Prince Jonathan Emmanuel who observed that talents abound in the School called on Parents to support their children in sports and declared that the School is ready to nurture such talents. He appreciated the Chairman of the occasion whom he said has been consistent in advising the school authorities, and the Plateau State Sports Council for their support and donation of two trophies for the competition.

Highlight of the competition was the Women’s Race where the President of the Women Association, Mrs. Lucy Maimako put up a very strong performance.
