Staff of the Bursary Department of the University of Jos have been enjoined to work as a team for the growth and development of the University and society at large.
Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako gave the piece of advice during the annual End of Year Party and Send-off of the Institution’s Bursary Department held at the Conference Hall of Lamonde Hotel,Appollo Crescent,Jos.
The Vice-Chancellor who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Grey Goziem Ejikeme described the role of the Bursary Department in the affairs of any institution as pivotal.
While applauding the contributions of retired Bursary Staff, Maimako encouraged those still in service to emulate the qualities of their retired colleagues.
Bursar of the University, Mr Ibrahim Alhassan who spoke through the Senior Deputy Bursar (Finance),Prince Adamu Aku urged Staff of the Bursary to always adhere to laid down rules of their profession and procedures guiding their work.
Chairman of the Bursary End of Year Party and Send-off Planning Committee, Mr Pam Bwos appreciated all those who attended the occasion and advised them to engage in useful ventures for better livelihood for them and their families.
High point of the occasion was the presentation of gifts to some retired Bursary Staff including Mrs. Leah Kla, Mr Joshua Agai, Mrs Comfort Osho, Dr. Thomas Onyemachi and Mr Ibi Ayuba in recognition of their contribution and meritorious service to the University.New employees of the Bursary Department were also welcomed during the occasion. In recognition of his hard work, a Staff of the Bursar’s Office, Mr Kofa Yambaya was presented with a gift by another Staff, Mr Ciroma Emmanuel for his passion and dedication to duty which was described as a source inspiration.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Mrs. Leah Kla and Mr Joshua Agai cautioned the Staff to be faithful in carrying out their duties and asked for forgiveness if they might have hurt some people in the course of carrying out assignments.
