INTRODUCTION
MikroTik is a global networking company based in Europe with strength in producing network devices such routers, switches, wireless Access Points (AP), antenna, etc. Their devices operate with a branded Linux-flavour operating system that gives network engineers and administrators the ability to configure and monitor their networks remotely either using Graphical User Interface (GUI) or Command Line (LI). MikroTik solutions are often referred to as the user-friendliest, for both carrier-class routing and network management solutions. Major network providers like ISPs, individual users and companies across the world use Mikrotik products for building data network infrastructures.
MikroTik, like of other networking companies, have an Academy programme focused on providing students with hands-on skills and experience that would make them valuable in the labour market. The Academy programmes also have industry certifications as follows:
- MikroTik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA)
- MikroTik Certified Routing Engineer (MTCRE)
- MikroTik Certified Wireless Engineer (MTCWE)
- MikroTik Certified Traffic Control Engineer (MTCTCE)
- MikroTik Certified User Manager Engineer (MTCUME)
- MikroTik Certified IPv6 Engineer (MTCIPv6E)
- MikroTik Certified Inter-Networking Engineer (MTCINE)
The MikroTik Academy Programme is purposely designed for educational institutions such as universities, technical schools, colleges, vocational schools, and other educational institutions.
About UniJosMikroTik Academy
University of Jos will be the second University in Nigeria, after Anchor University Lagos, to partner with MikroTik to establish an Academy. One of the aimsof the Academy is to provide opportunity for students to develop hands-on skills and experience that would make them valuable in the labour market. The Academy is resident at the Industry Training Services (ITS) Unit, ICT Directorate, ICT Complex II, Naraguta Campus, University of Jos, Jos-Nigeria
The University has four trained and certified Instructors ready to pioneer the programmes of the Academy. Application into the various programmes will soon be advertised on this platform and other media..
