
JIBWIS COMMENDS UNIJOS' ADMISSIONS POLICY
The Jama’atu Izalatil Wa’iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has commended the University of Jos for pursuing an all-inclusive Admissions policy.
JIBWIS Director of Education, Plateau State, Sheikh Imam Abubakar Gana stated this when he led a delegation from the religious organization to pay a courtesy visit on the Vice-Chancellor of the University in his office.
The JIBWIS Director of Education stressed that the University has attained lofty heights under the leadership of the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako and in collaboration with JAMB, has made its Admissions process accessible to all, thereby paving way for many disadvantaged candidates to gain admission into the University.
He explained that, it is in recognition of the positive impact witnessed by the Nigerian youth during the Professor Maimako led Administration that JIBWIS considered it necessary to present an Award of Excellence to the Vice-Chancellor. Sheikh Abubakar Gana expressed hope that the gesture will spur him to do more even during last lap of his tenure.
Responding, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Tanko Ishaya, said as a University with a focused mandate, it is always happy and willing to hear people’s opinion about its activities. According to him, this will keep the University on the right track as well as help it to identify areas of weakness for possible remedy and improvement.
Professor Maimako believes that although the University has received many commendations from various entities, it is only pursuing its mandate of providing quality services to its immediate community and the Nation at large. The Vice-Chancellor noted that with the maximum co-operation and understanding of its stakeholders, the University would serve them even better.
He described UNIJOS as a universal brand that does not accord preferential treatment to any person or group in terms of service delivery, stressing that the institution belongs to nobody and belongs to everybody irrespective of ethnicity, race or religion hence its being among the most desired destination for higher learning country.
The Vice-Chancellor while appreciating JIBWIS for recognizing the University’s impact on the society, expressed the institution’s readiness for partnership with lovers of peace and development.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of an Award to the Vice-Chancellor in recognition of his excellent performance in office.
